My Mac

I know you all know who Mac is and that I lost him this past Sept 6. One of the worst days of my life. I've lost dogs before. Many. But somehow Mac and I were closer than most of my dogs.

Maybe because I let him sleep with me. I didn't let dogs sleep with me because we kept the upstairs a dog free zone. And I just never did. But one of my daughter's dogs, Baby Girl, snuck into my bed one night and just stayed there. I made her stay on her blanket and it went well.

She was a sharpei mix and such a love. So when she passed away, (a heartbreak for sure), I then had an affinity for sharpeis.

I was browsing shortly after at Animal House and there was a litter of sharpei/chow mixes. 10 of them. Half looked like sharpeis and half looked like chows. So adorable! But I was not ready. I just couldn't.

Fast forward a few months. Again found myself at Animal House looking at pups. All adorable but no. Then the owner said to check this one out before I left. He was returned and about 4 mos old. He was one of the sharpei/chow pups I had looked at months ago. So I took him out for a bit. While putting him back, he wrapped his legs around my arm. Well ladies and gentlemen of the jury, that was all she wrote. We were meant to be together. ❤

Seems he was returned when the DEA took his family away and he hid till neighbors found him and returned him to the Animal House.

See, we were meant to be.

I'll continue the story on another post. Meanwhile there's coffee to be had, emails to write, sun outside to enjoy and the pyrs want to go outside. Again.

Enjoy your Thursday! Hug your dog today and every day. They aren't with us near long enough. ❤
